It has been observed that there has been an increase in esophageal and stomach cancer cases as a result of recent diagnoses. Thereupon, a scientific study was conducted on the risk factors of stomach and esophageal cancer in the hospital. As a result of the hospital-based study; It has been determined that due to the widespread consumption of tandoori bread; especially women suffered from esophageal cancer due to exposure to tandoori smoke. On the other hand, consuming excessive salt as a dietary habit has also been shown to significantly trigger the risk of stomach cancer.

Stating that they see fire smoke and excessive salt consumption as a risk factor; the professor said, “While lung, prostate and breast cancers are in the first place worldwide; it has been found that esophagus and stomach cancer cases are very high in scientific studies conducted in some regions. When considered worldwide, esophageal cancer is more common in men. In hospital-based studies, we estimate that the risk factor is exposure to fire smoke; and it is caused by the consumption of foods; we call highly salted brine.

Noting that the treatment of cancer patients takes too long and this process is costly, the professor said in a study conducted in 2015; He said that an esophageal cancer patient costs 40 thousand dollars until the time of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Underlining that such cancer diseases should be prevented for this reason, the professor continued his words as follows: “Preventing this is done by preventive medicine. Our eating habits and lifestyle can reduce these cancers. According to a data of the World Health Organization, about 70 percent of cancer patients can be prevented. Therefore, in our own region, we think that the reasons for this are related to nutrition and lifestyle. If we change these, we will have done an important job in preventive medicine. “
